Field Notes is written by Elin Halvorsen, a photographer based in Bergen who spends too much of every year somewhere else. This blog exists because the notebooks were filling up faster than anyone could read them — half itinerary, half exposure log, half apology for the state of the itinerary. The math has never worked out and probably never will.

What you can expect here: trip write-ups that care more about the slow days than the highlights, occasional gear notes when a piece of equipment has genuinely earned an opinion, and a lot of photographs. Posts arrive when they are ready, which is to say irregularly.

Everything you see here is shot on film unless a caption says otherwise. That is not a purity statement — digital is wonderful and lives in the bag too — it is just that the slowness of film matches the kind of travel this blog is about. Thirty-six frames per roll is a good editor.
